Question: How can a researcher participate in a COST Action?

Answer: The COST National Coordinator (CNC) of Cyprus is responsible for nominating researchers for participation in COST Actions. Interested scientists should, therefore, contact the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF), which is the local administrator of the COST Programme in Cyprus, and submit the necessary application accompanying their CV.

Question: How many Cypriot researchers can participate in one COST Action?

Answer: Only two (2) Cypriot researchers can participate in the Management Committee of any Action. Additionally, Cypriot experts have the opportunity to contribute in the implementation of an Action through their participation in specific Working Groups.

Question: What is the maximum number of Actions that a researcher is allowed to participate in?

Answer: A researcher can participate in only one COST Action at any given time.

Question: What expenses does the COST Programme cover?

Answer: The COST Programme covers the participation expenses for meetings organized in the context of the implementation of an Action (air tickets, accommodation and daily allowance).

Question: How can funds for research work implemented in Cyprus be secured?

Answer: A researcher wishing to participate in an Action is expected to already be involved in a research project financed in the frame of some other funding scheme (eg. Seventh Framework Programme, National Framework Programme).

Question: Does the Research Promotion Foundation contribute in organising COST Action Management Committee meetings in Cyprus?

Answer: The representative of Cyprus in a COST Action Management Committee is the person responsible for organising a meeting in Cyprus. The Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) can finance part of the organisation/accommodation expenses of the meeting.  

Question: Which is the procedure for funding a Management Committee meeting in Cyprus?

Answer: The representative in the Management Committee formally informs the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) regarding the intention to organize such an event in Cyprus, providing at the same time an analytical budget of proposed expenses. The request is then assessed by the Foundation and the representative is informed regarding the eligible expenses. Upon completion of the meeting all relevant receipts must be submitted to the Foundation for the reimbursement of eligible expenses.
