Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How can a Cypriot researcher participate in the activities of European Science Foundation (ESF)?
Answer: The European Science Foundation (ESF) announces calls for proposals on an annual basis for most of its activities, in which interested Cypriot researchers can directly submit a proposal. In the case of Research Networking Programmes and EUROCORES, in which the financial support of Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) is required, applicants must inform the Foundation concerning their intention to submit a proposal well in advance.
Question: How many partners must be involved in a proposal for Research Networking Programmes and EUROCORES Programmes?
Answer: The European Science Foundation (ESF) is a pan-European organization with the aim to promote European cooperation. For this reason, proposals submitted, especially those in the frame of the above two activities, must have a European dimension and provide a clear European added value. The proposals for Research Networking Programmes must be comprised of researchers or a group of researchers from ten (10), or more, ESF member countries. Proposals for EUROCORES must include at least three (3) cooperating institutions from three (3) different member countries, which support the Programme.
Question: How do I submit a proposal for an ESF activity?
Answer: Proposals should be submitted directly to the ESF contact person/unit responsible as stated in the relevant call for proposals. In some cases, applications must be submitted online.
Question: How are proposals evaluated?
Answer: The European Science Foundation (ESF) carries out the scientific evaluation of the proposals which are submitted in the frame of its various activities using the international peer-review system. ESF evaluation and selection decisions are final.
