At the same time, through activities that focus on nurturing a culture of research and innovation, the event aims to encourage young people to pursue professional careers in research and in the wider field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,500,000 visitors take part each year in this science and research festival, which takes place every last Friday in September in more than 350 cities across Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-4milzg-4b4cd1799a6eb977066fe25d7aa92735\">\n.flex_column.av-4milzg-4b4cd1799a6eb977066fe25d7aa92735{\nborder-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\npadding:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='flex_column av-4milzg-4b4cd1799a6eb977066fe25d7aa92735 av_one_half  avia-builder-el-5  el_after_av_one_half  avia-builder-el-last  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding  '     ><section  class='av_textblock_section av-jzl7t56w-9-73977d79f5a30d4cc14bc1ec2558ac56 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The activities presented are interactive and encourage the active participation of the public. Visitors of all ages can take part in experiments, use the latest technology for performing simulations, chat with researchers, test their knowledge through competitions and have fun with music, theater and other events included in the programme.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event is an initiative of the European Commission and is funded through the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) of the EU\u2019s Framework-Programme for Research and Innovation. During the event, visitors of all ages have the opportunity to get in touch with research teams, participate in experiments and interactive games, live discussions, awards and much ><p>Each year, the event presentes more than 70 activities, including an exhibition hall in which interactive experiments are presented through the use of technology, multimedia, quizzes, simulations, activities with games specially designed for children and parents, such as a Treasure Hunt, activities combining science with art and sports, the S-Factor student competition for science communication, awards and many other fun events.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, through the European Corner, the public has the opportunity to receive specialized information on developments in Europe in the The event\u2019s Mascots!<\/h6>\n<p>Brainy and Genie are the key figures (mascots) of European Researchers \u2019Night event in Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>Brainy was first introduced to the public during the 2016 event and has been an integral part of ERN Cyprus&#8217; visual identity ever since.<\/p>\n<p>The mascots met and were introduced to us for the first time together at European Researchers \u2019Night in 2020 in its first Digital Edition.<\/p>\n<p>The two mascots are characterized by curiosity, intelligence and perseverance along with all those elements for which an excellent researcher is known for. ERN 2021 took place on September 24, 2021 and was organised for the 15th time by the Research and Innovation Foundation in collaboration with the main bodies from the research and innovation ecosystem. The event took place in digital form and was under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos.<\/p>\n<p>European Researchers\u2019 Night 2021 engaged the public who had the opportunity to take a tour of an impressive digital exhibition area with 72 booths, 300 researchers from the research and business community of Cyprus. Online visitors enjoyed a rich program that included, among other things, interactive games, prizes, interesting activities and experiments.<\/p>\n<p>The main theme of the event entitled ENGAGE &#8211; Night 2020 event, which was held under the auspices of the Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos, was organized in Cyprus on November 27<sup>th<\/sup>, 2020 by the Research and Innovation Foundation, in collaboration with the main organizations from the ecosystem of research, innovation and business. Due to the consequences of the pandemic, the event was held fully digitally for the first time due to the restrictions in place.<\/p>\n<p>The RIF welcomed thousands of visitors to the popular event online, with no geographical boundaries, giving the public the opportunity to enjoy the online activities featuring a variety of interesting activities, awards, games, live discussions, interviews and experiments from the comfort of their homes.<\/p>\n<p>The main theme of the ERN 2020 event was &#8220;Smart and Green Cities&#8221;. Through the interesting discussions and navigation in the digital booths, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the role of research and innovation as a pillar for sustainable
