{"id":27972,"date":"2026-06-08T10:45:01","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T07:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.research.org.cy\/?p=27972"},"modified":"2026-06-08T10:45:01","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T07:45:01","slug":"three-years-of-full-operation-of-the-central-knowledge-transfer-office-ckto-of-the-research-and-innovation-foundation-rif","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.research.org.cy\/en\/three-years-of-full-operation-of-the-central-knowledge-transfer-office-ckto-of-the-research-and-innovation-foundation-rif\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Years of Full Operation of the Central Knowledge Transfer Office (CKTO) of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Knowledge Transfer Office (CKTO) of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) has completed three years of full operation, playing a pivotal role in strengthening knowledge transfer capacities and the commercialisation of research and innovation results in Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>The CKTO provides a wide range of knowledge transfer and commercialisation services, while also supporting the development of knowledge transfer skills and capabilities at the national level.<\/p>\n<p>These services are offered free of charge to research organisations, enterprises, and other stakeholders within the national research and innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>During its first three years of operation, the CKTO provided services in 137 cases, while 13 local Knowledge Transfer Offices (KTOs) received capacity-building support on knowledge transfer-related matters.<\/p>\n<p>In parallel, twenty-eight (28) capacity-building training activities have been successfully completed.<\/p>\n<p>The national knowledge transfer system operates under a Hub-and-Spoke model, with the CKTO serving as the national central hub for knowledge transfer and research commercialisation activities, while local Knowledge Transfer Offices (Spokes) are established within Research Organisations.<\/p>\n<p>At present, an intensive training programme is underway to further strengthen the capabilities of local Knowledge Transfer Offices. In addition, the recently launched ENHANCE funding programme provides co-funding to RIF-approved Local Knowledge Transfer Offices for the recruitment of one (1) full-time Knowledge Transfer Officer (KTO). The officer will be dedicated exclusively to activities related to knowledge transfer, the exploitation of research results, intellectual property management, the development of collaborations with industry, and the support of research commercialisation activities.<\/p>\n<p>The CKTO work programme also includes additional support actions targeting both local Knowledge Transfer Offices and beneficiaries.
