The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) is the national authority in charge of supporting and promoting research, technological development and innovation in Cyprus.

As the executive arm of the Research and Innovation Governance System, it provides funding and value-added services to the country’s research and business community, contributing to the achievement of the vision of establishing Cyprus as a dynamic and competitive economy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Cyprus’ knowledge transfer system operates under a hub-and-spoke model, whereby the Central Knowledge Transfer Office (CKTO) within the RIF serves as the central hub, delivering training and specialised support to local Knowledge Transfer Offices within research organisations (“spokes”), as well as to the wider innovation ecosystem.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the quality of CKTO operations.
  • Support CKTO beneficiaries, including licensing, IP exploitation, and other knowledge transfer activities.
  • Design, deliver, or organise training for Local Knowledge Transfer Office staff within research organisations, including structured capacity-building activities.
  • Carry out internal engagement activities for researchers in Cypriot research organisations, in collaboration with local Knowledge Transfer Officers (KTO spokes), to increase the pipeline of commercially promising assets.
  • Carry out external outreach activities, including sessions for Cypriot companies on technology licensing and collaboration with research organisations.
  • Liaise with RIF programme managers and operations teams to strengthen the integration of knowledge transfer across RIF programmes and services.
  • Report to the Director General.
  • Supervise Officers and/or Administration Staff within the framework of specific projects/activities assigned to him/her.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director General.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree and Postgraduate degree from a recognised university, at least one of which in the subject of Science, Engineering, Business, Law, or Economics.
  • Professional Certification (e.g. RTTP, CLP) or completion of a recognised Knowledge Transfer Professional Programme or relevant postgraduate qualification in Technology Commercialisation / Technology Management / Innovation Management / Entrepreneurship / Business Administration.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a Knowledge Transfer or Technology Transfer Office within a research organisation or research-intensive environment.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in market research / market assessment, IP ownership evaluation, development of IP protection strategies, licensing and/or spin-out formation, industry outreach activities.
  • Fluency in the English Language

Preferred criteria (considered an advantage):

  • Knowledge of the Greek language.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of business finance.
  • Legal literacy relevant to IP, research–industry collaboration and deal-making.
  • Good understanding of EU policies and approaches relevant to knowledge valorisation.

 

Remuneration Package

  • €50,000 Gross Annual Salary.
  • Provident Fund, with 7% Employer Contribution.
